COMMENTARY:
To me, the reason why I've written it is is about a fragile life and caring for it. And about fading memories and trying to hang on to them and not let go.
Blu likes to cling to the past sometimes... until he has to let go (when the pumpkin rots).
Sometimes life or our goals in life have to stop, when we are needed. And sometimes searching for or reaching for that goal their are obstacles that come our way that demand our time and attention.
The pumpkin the symbolizes the past or that fragile life we encounter with a loved one or friend.It's funny, everytime I put the pumpkin in these strips it seems to follow this same theme...
But at least for that little bit of time we have, it's time we can at least cherish with that person while we have them before they go....
Or a realization of a death of someone or a memory that will fade or is forgotten.
Of trying to hold on to that which we can't. But at least for that little bit of time we have, it's time we can at least cherish them or that person while we have them....

A strip introducing a new background character.
(Lots of bird keep showing up in my comics... hmm, Not really sure why...)
The Barn Owl is a freaky looking bird. It has always given me the creeps. But is actually quiet a beautiful bird. So in saying that, this creature fits perfectly in Blu's world. This owl, being dead and a spirit, can see Bluboy. As do the Crows. The other aspect I like about this owl is it's Heart Shaped face. Which gives it such a unique look but also ties into the themes of relationships and heartache. A neat symbol for that...
Just another insecurity of blu's. At least Blu can admit it, he's not very smart. He sees a quality in the owl that he hopes to achieve or if not at least look to for guidance. For himself or for those that come to him for help....

I received this cool fan comic illustrated and written by Josep Oliver writer of El Joven Lovecraft. It's so cute and funny. And actually shows a slightly darker side of BluBoy that not even I have seen yet... Poor Blu will do what ever it takes to have some fun and make a friend. So I took Cisne's fancomic and redid it. Though I changed the ending in my version, making Rommenoth's eye upset by not being noticed by his mummy. It might be out of character, but I thought it was cute...

COMMENTARY:
This was my very first BluBoy comic. I just updated it into the 3 panel format and retouched the art a bit...
BluBoy was first sketched after riding on the Subway home from work, back in October of 2004.
I was feeling lonely and saddened by my Father-In-Law's passing, so I created Blu.
My own best friend.
NOTE: updated my comment here... I'm lazy, and didn't expand on my thoughts. Sorry everyone.

Intermingled with the theme of letting go of something you don't want to but know you have to. To either move on or because of what's right. Whether it be a relationship or... a pumpkin!? Or from the pumpkin's perspective, is it about abandonment?

CHARACTERS
PREMISEBluBoy is a lonely ghost trying to make his way through the Afterlife, simply hoping to find a friend wherever or with whomever he can. His best friend, or so he thinks, is a spider he calls Cedric. Despite his feelings of loneliness and melancholy, BluBoy possesses a naive, undying will to find his place in the Afterlife and even one day peace. Through his journey, BluBoy becomes a special spirit who ends up helping other lost souls, thereby becoming an angel of sorts. Death is always lurking in the shadows, rejected for his frightful appearance, hoping to show BluBoy the way. Wandering through the cemetery, BluBoy meets all kinds of strange spirits and critters... in the spirit realm anything can happen.
This is a comic strip about the everyday afterlife of BluBoy.
PROLOGUEThese are the stories behind the stories... of a legend.
This is a tale of an angelic soul. The story of innocence becoming greatness. A spirit lost in a world of fear and sadness. An angel in the spirit realm whose love for others and determination grants him this high regard. Who helps and shares his hope to those that have lost theirs. Helping these souls find their way out of a limbo to that doorway home.
These are are the tales of an afterlife, a spirit they call BluBoy...
HAUNTING FACTS
Orbs: There are different types of orbs, found in most haunted areas or cemeteries. Some, unseen to the naked eye, captured on film. Others bright shining orbs seen quickly floating by appearing and disappearing. They are thought to be the energies of a human spirit and are said to be seen before a manifestation. Blue orbs are said to be that of a good spirit, a red orb is said to be that of an evil one.
Indian Legend: I heard, in a documentary, of an Indian Legend about Blue orbs seen by gravesites and cemeteries. They say these are of a special spirit that help those recently passed find there way out of limbo. This was interesting to me because I didn't here about this legend until recently. This was exactly what I was seeing BluBoy becoming, a helpful spirit to the lost souls he would come across in his cemetery.
Blue Boy (or Radiant Boy): Link In Chillingham Castle England, there is a famous ghost sighting of what they call the Blue Boy or Radiant Boy. Coming from a room in the castle crying and moaning on occasion could be heard from behind the fireplace or within the walls. At night a bright light of blue could be seen and sometimes a vision of a boy dressed in blue clothing. In the 1920's within a wall of the room, renovations were done. Behind the wall a skeleton of a boy was found alongside a skeleton of an older man. Also some blue material was found. I recall a documentary that mentioned the boys fingers were worn down as if trying to scratch his way out, also suggesting being buried alive.
Book for the Dead: The real Book(s) of the Dead. BluBoy's Book for the Dead is a spirit Book that can speak to BluBoy, acting as his spirit guide. Being a moody book, he doesn't do a whole lot to help him. The fact that BluBoy doesn't read very well also doesn't help.
COMMENTARY:
